New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is anticipated to participate in the upcoming North Tech Symposium scheduled for next month, according to officials' statements on Sunday. Over 150 vendors are slated to exhibit their military equipment during the three-day event commencing on September 11.

As part of the agenda, the defence ministry is also planning a two-day tour of the Jammu region starting from September 12. The itinerary includes inaugurating a bridge over the Devak River in Samba district, along with 74 other projects managed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). These projects encompass various infrastructural developments such as airstrips and tunnels situated along the northern and western borders. The symposium, set to take place at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu, serves as a platform to showcase technology advancements. It offers an opportunity for the army to interact directly with industry participants and raise awareness about contemporary technologies and equipment that align with the operational and logistical needs of the army’s northern command.

Additionally, the event streamlines the process of evaluating, prioritizing, and acquiring products, thus aiding the formulation of effective procurement plans. The symposium will consist of a seminar and exhibition on September 11 and 12, culminating with a display of military equipment on the concluding day. Following the dedication of 75 projects in Samba, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is anticipated to visit the symposium on September 12. The construction of the Devak Bridge in Samba district was successfully completed within a span of two years under Project Sampark.
