DEHRADUN: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has officially opened 29 bridges and six roads along the nation's borders, providing a significant boost to the infrastructure of states and union territories situated in these regions. The inauguration ceremony, which cost approximately Rs. 670 crores, saw the Border Road Organization play a crucial role in the construction of these projects.

Jammu & Kashmir emerged as the primary beneficiary with ten new bridges and one road, while Ladakh received six bridges and three roads. Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Mizoram also witnessed the inauguration of essential infrastructure projects. Notable among them are the Dhak Bridge and Bhapkund Bridge in Uttarakhand and the Rimkhim Garh Bridge in Arunachal Pradesh, all of which were constructed by the Shivalik Project at a cost of Rs. 33.24 crore, enhancing transportation in border areas.

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh commended the Border Roads Organization (BRO) for their timely and committed completion of these projects. He emphasized the importance of working in an environmentally friendly manner while prioritizing national security and welfare. Singh also acknowledged BRO's role in the successful Silkyara Tunnel Operation, which rescued stranded laborers in Uttarakhand.

Asserting the government's dedication to the development of border areas under Prime Minister Modi's leadership, Singh stated that these regions are not considered buffer zones but integral parts of the nation's mainstream.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed gratitude for the inauguration of these vital projects, emphasizing their strategic, religious, and environmental significance. Dhami congratulated the entire BRO team for their efforts in advancing infrastructure development in the border areas, citing projects like Char-Dham All Weather Road, Rishikesh-Karnprayag Railway Line, Frontier Area Development Project, and Parvatmala as crucial for both development and security.
