Keeping this anger in mind, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has said that the participation of women in the army has increased in the last years. He also said that no army doors should be closed for women. Giving the example of Tania Shergill, who led the male squad of the army in the Republic Day parade, the Defense Minister said that today women are also leading on those fronts which were closed to them till now.

While addressing the 'Women Transform India Award' function organized by NITI Aayog, it was said that empowering women in the army is one of the priorities of the Modi government. Rajnath Singh said that the presence of women in the fields will contribute to the economic and social development of the nation, as well as upliftment of women. He said that women's participation is necessary to make India a $ 5 trillion economy.
