NEW DELHI: Having been arrested of four persons, including a woman and a drug peddler, the Delhi Police on Friday said to have busted a gang involved in supplying and selling narcotics substance in the national capital.
Police mentioned that they have also recovered 95 kilo of ganja (marijuana) from the possession of the accused and it was transported from Visakhapatnam to Delhi in a Toyota Innova car.
Noor Mohmmad alias Babloo, 39, a resident of the Bihar town of Patrahi Khurd, Ujjwal Kumar, 23, a resident of the Bihar district of Saran, Laxmi Singh, 25, a citizen of Assam, and the drug dealer Azad, 38, a resident of Delhi's New Seemapuri location, have all been named as the accused.
The Special Commissioner of Police (Crime), Ravindra Singh Yadav, claims that a tip-off was received regarding the shipment of a consignment of ganja obtained from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, to Delhi.
"Acting on the inputs, a trap was laid near Dilshad Garden. An Andhra Pradesh-registered Innova car was spotted. The car, which had 3 occupants including a woman, was stopped and on search, a total of 72.2 kg ganja in five plastic sacks was recovered," said the Special CP.
During questioning, the suspects Noor Mohmmad, Ujjwal, and Laxmi admitted that they had bought the marijuana from Visakhapatnam and intended to provide it to a man named Azad. Azad was also apprehended, and 22.795 kg of marijuana were later found in his home.
Yadav claimed that Noor, Ujjwal, and Laxmi used to buy marijuana in large quantities from Visakhapatnam and bring it to Azad, who then allegedly sold the purported ganja in little pouches.
"While transporting the ganja from Delhi, Laxmi used to sit on the co-driver seat and pretend like a family. On seeing the woman in the car, the police or investigating agencies did not have suspicion on them," said the official.
