Diphu: Three persons were held after contraband drugs estimated to be valued around Rs 7 crore were captured from two trucks in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district, a police officer said on Friday. “The arrests and seizure were made in the Khatkhati location near the Assam-Nagaland border late on Thursday night,” he added.

The officer said that after conducting a vehicle check in the vicinity and acting on a tip, two trucks were seized. Also, 30,000 Yaba tablets were found in a truck with a Nagaland registration number, while 757.15gm of heroin was found in a vehicle with a Manipur number plate, the official said. "During the operation, we intercepted two trucks," he added.
In the foreign market, "the tablets and the heroin are worth about 7 crore," he said. The officer announced, "Three people were arrested."

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the chief minister of Assam, tweeted his congratulations to the police, writing: "#AssamAgainstDrugs Yet again a huge catch by @assampolice! @karbianglongpol police intercepted two trucks coming from neighbouring states and seized 30,000 Yaba tablets & 55 soap cases containing 757.15 gramme Heroin. Also apprehended three accused. Good job."
