New Delhi: Dengue cases are increasing continuously in the country's capital Delhi. In the first week of October, 45 per cent more dengue cases have been reported than in September. A total of 693 dengue cases were reported in September, while 321 new cases were reported between September 29 and October 5, taking the figure to 1,258. In the last 45 days, 950 cases of dengue have been reported in the capital.

According to the report of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) released on Monday (October 10), this is the highest number of dengue cases in Delhi between January 1 and September 28 since 2017. According to the MCD report, Delhi recorded 23 cases of dengue in January this year, 16 in February, 22 in March, 20 in April, 30 in May, 32 in June, 26 in July and 75 in August. However, the relief is that no case of death due to dengue has been reported so far this year. Delhi recorded 10,600 dengue cases in October alone in 2015. This was the worst figure in Delhi since 1996.

According to the MCD report, 153 cases of malaria and 28 cases of chikungunya have been registered till October 5 this year. In such a situation, a campaign is being run to prevent dengue. The Kejriwal government has claimed to be prepared for the continuous spread of dengue in Delhi. The Delhi government has said that CM Kejriwal has made a complete action plan by meeting with all the concerned departments including the health department and MCD. However, now it remains to be seen how this masterplan of the Delhi government protects Delhiites from the bite of dengue.
