New Delhi: The BJP's Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD Badal) alliance has broken almost 21 years old in the Delhi Assembly elections. The Akali has announced not to contest elections citing differences over the CAA. Where the paths of both the parties have diverged, but it is being taken care of that this does not affect the agreement at the Center. The two parties contested the elections together and Harsimrat Kaur, the wife of SAD Badal president Sukhbir Singh Badal, is currently a minister in the Narendra Modi government.

It is being said that despite the break-up of the alliance in Delhi, restraint is being maintained from both sides. No leader is refraining from making harsh remarks against each other. Announcing not to contest elections on Monday, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (DSGPC) President Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that this decision is only for the Delhi Assembly elections. It has nothing to do with Punjab and the Center. Any decision in this regard will be taken by the top leadership.

The decision to not contest elections has also been taken carefully. In the first 16-17 seats, it was decided to fight alone. Many Akali leaders were also asked to prepare nomination papers, but by evening, the party withdrew from it. Actually, these days the party is struggling with internal fighting. Many leaders, including Manjeet Singh GK, have split from the party. In this situation, it was difficult to win elections without an alliance. Fielding other candidates would also have to be accompanied by rhetoric against the BJP, which would have deepened the gap between the two parties. Keeping this in mind, it was decided not to contest elections. Sirsa has clarified that no Akali leader will contest the elections as an Independent. If anyone enters the election field, his association with the Akali Dal will end. BJP leaders are also making a balanced statement, BJP state president Manoj Tiwari says that the Akali Dal is our old ally. The issue of CAA has also met in the House. The agreement could not be reached for some reason.
