CM Gupta Targets Previous Government
Delhi CM Rekha Gupta has strongly criticized the previous government, accusing it of misusing public funds. She promised transparency and accountability.
"We made a promise to the people of Delhi, and we will keep it. The CAG report will be presented in this first session because people deserve to know how their hard-earned money was misused," CM Gupta said.
Gupta, who took oath as Chief Minister on Thursday, February 20, wasted no time in getting to work. She chaired her first cabinet meeting the same day and made two big announcements:
Ayushman Bharat Scheme will be implemented with a Rs. 5.00 lakh top-up.
14 pending CAG reports will be presented in the assembly session.
AAP in Opposition for the First Time
Meanwhile, Atishi has been named the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Delhi Assembly. She was chosen during a meeting of AAP MLAs, and senior AAP leader Gopal Rai made the announcement.
The BJP has come to power in Delhi after 27 years, winning 48 out of 70 seats in the recent elections. The AAP, which had ruled for a decade with a strong majority, will now sit in the Opposition for the first time.
