Delhi: Bike rams into tree, 1 killed, another injured

NEW DELHI: A youth died while another sustained injuries when the bike they were riding triple seats on, lost control and rammed into a tree in North Delhi on Monday, March 6.

The incident happened on the night between Sunday and Monday. Vikas, a resident of Sector-26, Rohini died on the spot. Sagar Singh Kalsi, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), said that three persons, all between the ages of 24 and 25, were travelling by bike from the Inderlok side of the city to the Kanihya Nagar metro station during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. On board the car was one Vikas, a native of Pulprahlad Pur. Two of the cyclists were pillion. Vikas occupied the seat behind Shankar, who was seated in the middle said the DCP. He said that the bike was being driven negligently and it rammed into a tree.

Vikas, who was riding pillion, passed away from his injuries while the young man who was riding the bike suffered injuries.

The DCP said, "A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered at Sarai Rohilla police station under sections 279 (driving rashly or recklessly), 337 (causing hurt by an act which endangers human life), and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code.

This horrific bike accident has once again brought forth the issue of reckless driving of youngsters in triples on bikes, which has off late increased substantially.
