NEW DELHI: Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court has decided to reserve its ruling on whether to summon former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his son Tejaswi Yadav, and other individuals involved in the land-for-jobs scandal. The court will announce its decision on August 24.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) submitted a supplementary charge sheet on August 6, naming 11 individuals in the case. This charge sheet, presented to Special Judge Vishal Gogne, includes 96 documents supporting the allegations.
The case revolves around a money laundering scheme linked to the land-for-jobs scandal. According to the ED, the supplementary charge sheet targets Lalu Prasad Yadav, his son Tejaswi Yadav, and eight other individuals, including Amit Katyal, a close associate of the Yadav family, along with Hema Yadav and Hridayanand Chaudhary.
Earlier, in January, the ED had filed an initial charge sheet concerning the same scandal. It also implicated former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi and her daughter, MP Misa Bharti. The ongoing investigation has revealed that during Lalu Yadav’s tenure as Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009, several candidates were allegedly appointed to Group 'D' positions in the Indian Railways in exchange for transferring land to the Yadav family or A K Infosystems Private Limited, a company associated with Yadav.
The court's forthcoming decision will determine if Lalu Prasad Yadav and others will be formally summoned to face charges related to this case.
