New Delhi: Environment Minister Gopal Rai on Wednesday said the production, sale and use of all kinds of firecrackers will be banned in New delhi till January 1.

In keeping with its order from the previous year, the Delhi Government has extended the prohibition on the production, storage, sale, and setting off of fireworks. The government has also decided to move firecracker sales and deliveries online this year.

On Twitter, Rai noted that a plan of action will be created with Delhi Police, Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC), and the Revenue Department to ensure that the ban will be strictly enforced.

"This time, firecracker deliveries and sales online would both be prohibited in Delhi. Until January 1, 2023, this restriction will be in effect. With the help of the Delhi Police, DPCC, and Revenue Department, an action plan for strictly enforcing the ban will be developed "he said. "Like last year, the production, storage, sale, and use of all forms of firecrackers are fully prohibited this time to protect people from the threat of pollution in Delhi so that lives can be saved," he said.

The government once again outlawed the storage, sale, and use of any kind of firecrackers last year due to the alarming level of Delhi's air pollution during Diwali for the previous three years.

Taking to Twitter, ArvindKejriwal had said, "A complete ban is being placed on the storage, sale, and usage of all forms of firecrackers due to the hazardous condition of Delhi's pollution during Diwali for the past three years, similar to last year. in order to save lives of people."

To raise awareness, the government also started the "patakhe nahi diye jalao" campaign.

In 2020, the Chief Minister made a similar appeal to dealers not to stock crackers to help them escape losses brought on by the ban's tardy implementation.
