New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has stopped the results of the JNU Students' Union election. The High Court, while hearing two petitions filed in the case, stayed it. In these, the post of the counselor was reduced from 55 to 46. The JNU administration accepted the notice in court. In this petition, the Election Committee has been directed to form a party. The petitions submitted said that the Students' Union Election Committee reduced the post of counselor from 55 to 46 before the election. Prior permission of the university was also not taken for this.

This is a direct violation of the Lyngdoh Committee recommendations. Accordingly, every faculty and school should be represented in the students' union. Accordingly, the number of counselors was fixed at 55. It was part of the Constitution of the Students' Union. On behalf of JNU, permanent advocate Monica Arora said that the Election Committee could not make a decision on changes in the constitution of the students' union or reducing the number of counselors.

The decision of the committee was against the recommendations of the Lyngdoh Committee. The Election Committee was repeatedly instructed in this regard, but the committee paid no attention. Actually, JNU Students' Union was elected on Friday. A bench of Justice Sanjiv Sachdeva has fixed September 17 for hearing the petitions of Anshuman Dubey and Anuj Kumar Dubey.
