New Delhi: The petition filed in the Delhi High Court regarding same-sex marriage has been heard today i.e. on Wednesday. According to the information received, the court has issued a notice to the Central Government in this regard. The petitioner has demanded, 'same-sex marriage be recognized by the government and incorporated under the provisions of the Special Marriage Act and the Foreign Marriage Act'.

The court has given a date of January 8, 2021, for the next hearing on this matter. The court in its notice has said, 'This is not an ordinary petition, so the representatives of the Central Government should take this matter seriously. This is a question related to the rights of citizens.' However, during the hearing on this matter, the counsel for the registrar said, 'Such a case has not come up in the history of five thousand years of Sanatan Dharma'.

In this case, two same-sex couples have filed a petition in the court. One of these petitioners wanted to marry a person of their choice but was prevented from doing so. Talking about the second petitioner, he married in New York, but his marriage has not been registered in the Indian Consulate.
