The Krishna water has been shared between Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra and Telangana. We have an existing KWDT for smooth resolving of disputes Maharashtra, Karnataka and the then Andhra Pradesh. In 2013 the KWDT has given recommendation on allocation of Krishna water between these three stakeholders. It is not published in the official gazette due to the SC stay dated 16-09-2011. The Water Resources Minister Ramesh Jarkiholi objected the Telangana government's demand for a new KWDT, as the KWDT has already decided its verdict on allocation and is unfair to create a fresh controversy. It is expected that the share of Karnataka will be affected if a fresh tribunal is formed to decide on sharing of Krishna river water as the number of states has increased to four. The state government does not want to lose its share is pressurizing the center to halt from nodding the Telangana's demand for the fresh tribunal.
