New Delhi: On the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD), Delhi Health and Urban Development Minister Satyendra Jain said on Sunday that MCD has funds for hoardings but does not have the money to pay the salaries of doctors who are opposed to not paying salaries during the lockdown applied to the Coronavirus.

Satyendra Jain made a statement on an indefinite hunger strike by the associations of resident doctors of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) Medical College and Hindu Rao Hospital, who have been staging a dharna in protest against non-payment of salaries for the past few weeks. Briefing about the Health Bulletin of Delhi, Satyendra said, "The salary is paid by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, but instead of paying the salaries of the doctors, the MCD does not know where it is spending its money? They have money for hoardings, but they don't have to pay the salary."

Earlier, Satyendra Jain had said that the government has written to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) asking them to hand over the hospitals to the Delhi government as the MCD is not able to run its hospitals properly.
