New Delhi: Senior Congress leader and former Finance Minister P Chidambaram has suffered a severe setback from the Delhi High Court. The High Court has rejected Chidambaram's anticipatory bail plea in the INX media case. Chidambaram has sought a three-day extension from the court. The ED and the CBI are now seeking to detain Chidambaram soon after the anticipatory bail plea was rejected.

P Chidambaram's lawyers are now expected to approach the Supreme Court after the High Court rejected the anticipatory bail application. Chidambaram is accused of accepting a bribe of Rs 305 crore for illegally sanctioning the INX media case from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board. So far, Chidambaram has been relieved of his stay on the arrest of the interim protection court nearly two dozen times.

The case was in 2007 when P Chidambaram was the Union Finance Minister. He is alleged to have taken a bribe of Rs 305 crore for illegally sanctioning INX Media from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board. The CBI and ED have already detained Chidambaram's son Karti in the case.
