Lucknow: The court has categorically denied allowing former Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student Omar Khalid to visit the family during police custody in the North East Delhi violence case. The court said Omar Khalid was allowed to meet his lawyer for 30 minutes a day.

The officer investigating the case has argued in court that Omar Khalid is not yet cooperating with the investigation and that the investigation could be affected if he meets his family. Following the plea, additional sessions judge Amitabh Rawat has rejected Omar Khalid's plea in the court. In a court case, the Delhi Police Investigation Officer (IO) responded to Omar Khalid's plea and said that as per the directions of the court, the accused has been allowed to meet his lawyer daily and these directions of the court have been complied with. The accused is not cooperating with the police investigation.

IO said the investigation could be affected if Omar Khalid meets his family members. Omar Khalid's plea cannot be allowed as the accused is already meeting his lawyer and if the accused has to receive any message to his family members, he can message his lawyer.
