Agra: After 188 days, the Taj Mahal has been opened to tourists on Monday. However, tourists will have to abide by the COVID-19 rules issued by the government. At present, thermal scanning is taking place at the gate. Only then the tourists are being allowed to enter inside. The Taj Mahal and Agra fort were closed since March 17.

Now, after 188 days, they are being opened to tourists. According to the new guidelines, a maximum of 5,000 tourists will be allowed in the Taj Mahal premises and a maximum of 2,500 in Agra fort. The ticket window at both monuments will remain closed. Tourists will have to book tickets online from the ASI website. Entry will be given only after thermal scanning. In this regard, archaeological department officials say standard operating procedures (SOP) will be followed at Taj Mahal and Agra fort.

Only 5 people at a time will be able to enter in the main tomb of Shah Jahan and Mumtaz. The museum will also be open to tourists. Tourists will have to make all payments including parking through digital means. Tourists will be required to follow social dissing and wear masks. Tourists have to stay away from the walls and railings.
