 A 31-year-old woman was allegedly strangulated to death by her husband in Delhi's Laxmi Nagar area. Police have apprehended the husband of a woman who was discovered dead at her home on July 8. Police went to the scene and discovered a piece of cloth hanging from the ceiling fan. Police said on Monday that the case is now being investigated as dowry death.

As per the reports, the police team investigated the accused's residence and discovered a dupatta hanging from the ceiling fan"A case was subsequently registered, and the husband was apprehended. The deceased woman's body was sent to the Sabzi Mandi morgue for postmortem investigation. According to the doctor who performed the autopsy, the preliminary investigation indicates that the woman died as a result of strangulation.

Deputy commissioner of police (east), Priyanka Kashyap said that a case has been registered against the suspect under sections 498A (harassment for dowry), 304B (dowry death), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

The deceased's mother told that the accused's father sought a bike for himself a day before the wedding, while his wife demanded gold jewelry for her family. The woman's husband also wanted money to start a business, for which the deceased's family managed to get Rs 5 lakh by selling their land and borrowing money from relatives. The mother said that on July 8, at about 2 am, her son got a call from her daughter's father-in-law notifying him that the 31-year-old had been discovered unconscious and had been sent to the hospital. When they arrived, she was already dead, according to the mother.
