New Delhi: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has launched a new check-in facility for international flights at two key metro stations in the capital city – New Delhi and Shivaji Stadium on the Airport Express Line.
Introduced in early June, this service aims to streamline travel procedures for passengers flying from Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI). In collaboration with Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), Air India, and Vistara Airlines, DMRC has extended this convenience to international travelers. Initially available only for domestic flights, the 'Check-in & Baggage-Drop' service now includes Air India and Vistara Airlines flights on international routes. DMRC plans to involve more airlines to enhance traveler benefits.
Passengers can check in their luggage at these metro stations, ensuring secure transportation directly to the aircraft through automated systems. For Air India flights, the service operates from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM at both New Delhi and Shivaji Stadium stations. Vistara Airlines passengers can use the service from 6:00 AM to 8:00 PM at New Delhi station.
For domestic flights, check-in is available from twelve (12) to two (2) hours before departure, while for international flights, it ranges from four (4) to three (3) hours before departure. At New Delhi Metro Station, check-in counters are located at the concourse level, while at Shivaji Stadium Metro Station, they are adjacent to the VFS Global Office.
The new service has received positive feedback from passengers utilizing the check-in facilities at New Delhi and Shivaji Stadium stations.
