NEW DELHI: In a significant move, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced on Monday that the HUDA City Centre metro station on the Yellow Line will be renamed as 'Gurugram City Centre.' This decision comes as the station falls within the boundaries of Gurugram in Haryana. The DMRC took to Twitter to share the news and stated that the process of updating the name in official documents, signage, and announcements has been initiated and will be implemented gradually.

This renaming request has been made jointly by the Centre and the Haryana government, indicating their mutual agreement on the matter. Last year, the Public Investment Board granted approval for the 28.5-kilometer-long metro corridor connecting HUDA City Centre and Cyber City in Gurugram.

The Chief Secretary of Haryana, Sanjeev Kaushal, praised the efforts of the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation team in successfully securing the project's approval from the Board. He emphasized that this development will provide the residents of Gurugram and its surrounding areas with an efficient and environmentally friendly transportation system.

Furthermore, the renamed station will offer seamless connectivity between Gurugram and the Indira Gandhi International Airport, greatly benefiting the public of Haryana, especially those residing in Gurugram and its vicinity.

HUDA City Centre is a prominent metro station located in Gurugram, a city in the Indian state of Haryana. It serves as a crucial transportation hub and is part of the Delhi Metro network. HUDA City Centre is situated at the southern end of Gurugram, near the junction of the National Highway 8 and the Mehrauli-Gurugram Road. The station is named after the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), the organization responsible for planning and developing Gurugram.

Being the terminus of the Yellow Line of the Delhi Metro, HUDA City Centre is a bustling interchange point that connects commuters from various parts of the city. It serves as a pivotal link for both residents and visitors, facilitating convenient travel to and from Gurugram. The station is well-known for its modern infrastructure and efficient services, making it a vital transportation hub for the region.
