Delhi on Alert After Bomb Threat Emails Sent to Major Malls

New Delhi: On Tuesday, several major shopping malls across the national capital received alarming bomb threat emails, triggering an immediate response from the Delhi Police. The affected locations included prominent malls such as Chanakya Mall, Select CityWalk, Ambience Mall, DLF, Cinepolis, Pacific Mall, Primus Hospital, and Unity Group.

The threatening email warned, "An explosive will go off in a few hours," prompting the mall authorities to quickly alert the police. Authorities swiftly responded, deploying bomb disposal units and fire brigades to the sites. So far, no explosives have been found.

A senior police official stated that initial investigations indicate a recurring pattern in these threats, with no specific dates mentioned in the emails. The same message was sent to various locations, and an extensive investigation is underway to trace the source.

This incident follows a similar threat earlier this month. On August 17, Ambience Mall in Gurugram received a bomb threat via email, though a thorough search yielded no suspicious items. ACP Vikas Kaushik, speaking on the matter, confirmed that teams including the bomb squad, dog squad, and SWAT were dispatched immediately, but nothing was found. He assured that cyber teams are working to identify the email sender.

Authorities have warned that any individual found spreading false information about bomb threats, whether online or through email, will face legal consequences. This comes after an earlier scare on August 2, when a school in Delhi's Greater Kailash area received a similar threat, which also turned out to be a hoax.

The investigation into these incidents remains active, and more details are expected to emerge as authorities continue their efforts.
