New Delhi: Delhi Police had found a body near a temple at Tikona Park in Indralok a few days ago. The deceased was identified as 20-year-old Abhishek. He was booked for several cases of theft. Now, the police have arrested 5 persons in the case. They have been identified as the main accused Afzal Ansari (45), his brother Savjal Ansari (38), associate Rashid Ansari (30), Mohammad Israfil (20) and Abrar Ansari (27). Police have recovered the scooter used during the murder and the mobile of the deceased thrown into the River Yamuna from the accused. Abhishek was killed on 6th January. His body was then put in a polythene bag wrapped in a bedsheet.
After which the body was dumped on the roadside near the temple with the help of a scooter. During interrogation with Abhishek's family, the police came to know about his quarrel with the accused. The police then rushed to the accused's bakery in Padma Nagar. Part of the sheet in which Abhishek's body was recovered and polythene was found in the bakery. On interrogation, bakery owner Afzal Ansari then admitted Abhishek's murder. The rest of the accused were also arrested after questioning Afzal. Afzal said he had bought two stolen laptops from Abhishek a year ago by paying Rs 5,000 each. Abhishek had then started blackmailing Afzal by talking about buying stolen goods. He had slowly extorted one lakh rupees from them. Abhishek was demanding 20,000 rupees on January 6.
Afzal's brother Savjal, who runs a bakery in Khajuri, was also present at the time of the incident. According to Afzal, he first tried to convince Abhishek, but he refused. All of them then strangled him to death in another room in the bakery. The body was later put in a polythene bag wrapped in a sheet and then loaded onto a scooter and disposed of. On his way to Khajuri, the accused Savjal threw Abhishek's mobile into the River Yamuna. Police have recovered scooty and the mobile of the deceased on the trail of the accused. The other accused Rashid, Israfil and Abrar cooperated with Afzal in the incident.
According to North District Deputy Commissioner of Police Sagar Singh Kalsi, the body was found wrapped in a sheet in the Indralok area on January 7. The deceased had bruises on his neck and hand. Sarai Rohilla police registered a case of murder and launched an investigation. During the investigation, the deceased was identified as Abhishek from Pratap Nagar. Investigation revealed that the accused Abhishek was involved in 20 cases of theft and robbery.
