New Delhi: A person named Dilbar Singh Negi was murdered in Brahmapuri area during the Delhi violence. The crime branch of Delhi Police has arrested Shahnawaz, accused of murder. According to the crime branch, when the riots started near Shiv Vihar Tiraha on February 24, Shahnawaz and several people stoned and set fire to several shops.

Accused Shahnawaz along with his accomplices entered a book store and a sweets shop inside the warehouse and set fire to both places. On 26 February, Dilbar Singh's body was found in a sweet shop. Both of Dilbar's hands were brutally cut. Eyewitnesses also told the police that Shahnawaz was the one who was instigating the most riots. Police arrested Shahnawaz on the basis of the investigation, the search for other accused is on.

Earlier, Delhi Police arrested Tahir Hussain, a suspended AAP councilor, in connection with the murder of riot accused and IB officer Ankit Sharma. There are four criminal cases against him. He was absconding since 25 February. A senior officer in the crime branch said that the team of SIT ACP Pankaj Singh had received inputs that Tahir would surrender at Rouse Avenue Court instead of the concerned Karkardooma Court. After which he was arrested.
