New Delhi: Vasant Kunj (South) police station in the country's capital Delhi has busted a vehicle theft group that steals sports bikes. Police have already detained three criminals, including a minor, of the group. The accused used to erase the engine and chassis number of the sports bike and enter the second number and then sell the bike for up to Rs 2 lakh. They steal bikes from Delhi and take them to Rajasthan and sell them. Eight vehicles, including 3 sports bikes, have been recovered from their possession.

According to southwest district police officials, in view of the increasing number of bike theft cases in the district, a special team of Vasant Kunj (South) Thana President Neeraj Chaudhary and Suresh Dhaka has also been formed under the supervision of ACP Ajay Vedwal. After several days of investigation, the team of SI Suresh Dhaka has detained Phool Singh Meena, a resident of Dausa, Rajasthan, on February 4 along with the stolen sports bike. The bike was stolen from Vasant Kunj (North).

The accused has said that he used to steal the vehicle from Delhi and sell it in Rajasthan. Yogendra and a minor, who had purchased the stolen bike from police team Phool Singh Meena, have been nabbed from Rajasthan. Three sports bikes, two scooties, two motorcycles and a car have been seized from their possession.

An improvised device in the shape of a key has been seized from Phoolsingh with the help of which he used to break the locks of vehicles very easily. He used to carry out an iron punch with him to stop the protester in case of an emergency while committing the crime. Phool Singh Meena has also committed more than 50 incidents of theft.
