New Delhi: As soon as the corona epidemic unbarred, crimes against women have once again started increasing in the country's capital, Delhi. In many cases, there has been an increase of 6-20 per cent. According to Delhi Police data, the case of molestation and rape has increased by 20 per cent after being unlocked. According to media reports, Delhi Police had registered 1,429 rape cases till October 31, 2020, while 1,725 cases have been registered till October this year.

On the other hand, molestation cases have increased by 20.44 per cent. As of October this year, 2,157 molestation cases have been registered as compared to 1,791 cases registered last year. According to police sources, the increase in data comes after the city unlocked after a corona. Last year, the lockdown caused by corona had declined by 28 per cent in rape cases as compared to 2019. Similarly, cases of molestation had also declined by 32.19 per cent. In 2019, 2,168 rape cases were registered between January and December. This was 1,699, down 21 per cent last year.

In 2020, 2,344 joint cases of kidnapping and escape of women from home were registered in Delhi. 3,342 such cases have been registered this year. There has also been a 6.5 per cent increase in cases registered under defloration. As 350 cases last year, 373 cases have been registered this year.
