Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Saturday expressed grief over the death of 20 patients in a Delhi hospital due to lack of oxygen and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased. Rahul Gandhi said, "The news of the death of many patients due to lack of oxygen at Jaipur Golden Hospital in Delhi is very sad. My thoughts are with the families of the deceased". The Congress leader called upon the Delhi government and party workers to extend all possible help to the victims' families.

It may be noted that 20 patients died overnight at Jaipur Golden Hospital in Delhi amidst a serious oxygen threat. This was reported by the officials on Saturday. The medical director of the hospital, Dr. D.K. He said about 200 patients are admitted to the hospital and they were left with only half an hour of oxygen at 10.45 pm.

When asked about any assistance from the government, the Medical Director said that no one has made any promise. Everybody is saying that we are trying very hard. Dr. Baluja said that out of about 200 patients admitted to the hospital, 80 percent of the patients are on oxygen. About 35 patients are in ICU. About 30 minutes of oxygen is yet to be left in the hospital. Meanwhile, the Delhi High Court on Saturday said that "we will hang that person" if an official of the Centre, state, or local administration creates hurdles in supplying oxygen.
