NEW DELHI:  Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi on Wednesday said in spite of paying more than Rs 1.75 lakh crore income tax in 2022, the National Capital was allocated only Rs 325 crore in the Union Budget 2023-24.

Accusing the Centre of meting out step-motherly treatment to the national capital,  Kejriwal claimed that the budget had provided no relief from the twin issues of inflation and unemployment.

"Step-motherly treatment" once more among Delhi's populace. Over Rs 1.75 lakh crore in income tax was paid by Delhi residents last year. Only Rs 325 crore of that total was allocated for the development of Delhi.

Kejriwal stated in a string of tweets, "This is a heinous injustice to the people of Delhi. This budget offers no protection against inflation. Instead, this budget will result in higher inflation. There is no established strategy to end unemployment. It is unfortunate that the education budget was cut from 2.64% to 2.50%.

He claimed that cutting the health budget from 2.2% to 1.98% was detrimental. On Wednesday, the Lok Sabha heard the presentation of the Union Budget for 2023–2024 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Congress General Secretary Secretary Gopal also alleged that this budget is not addressing real sentiment of country that's unemployment and price rise. It only had fancy announcements that were made earlier too but what about implementation? Only insurance companies were benefited from PM Kisan Yojana not farmers, he said.
