New Delhi: The Meteorological Department has forecasted light drizzle in certain parts of Delhi on Sunday evening, potentially leading to a decrease in the rapidly rising minimum temperature in the capital.

Initial projections suggested that the minimum temperature would climb to 21 degrees Celsius over the next three to four days. However, revised estimates indicate that it will hover around 17 to 18 degrees Celsius for the upcoming four days, a typical occurrence for this time of year.

For Sunday, the Meteorological Department anticipates maximum and minimum temperatures to be approximately 33 and 17 degrees Celsius respectively. Winds blowing at speeds of 8 to 20 kilometers per hour are also expected in Delhi on Sunday. Notably, Delhi has witnessed a notable surge in maximum temperatures in recent days.

Saturday saw Delhi's maximum temperature soaring to 34.1 degrees Celsius, a departure of three degrees from the norm. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature settled at 16.2 degrees Celsius, slightly below the average.

While Sunday's drizzle may cause a temporary dip in temperatures, the mercury is predicted to rise again starting Monday. By March 28, the maximum temperature could climb to 36 degrees Celsius. Cloud cover is anticipated over Delhi for the next six days, as per the Meteorological Department.

Despite these weather fluctuations, the air quality in Delhi remains a concern. The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recorded an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 227 at 7 pm on Saturday, categorizing it as 'poor'. The AQI scale ranges from 'good' (0-50) to 'severe' (401-500), with the current reading indicating a deterioration in air quality.
