Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Delimitation Commission has released the final report of the Union Territory. The Delimitation Commission had the responsibility of determining the delimitation of assembly and Lok Sabha seats in the state which has been completed today. The report was awaited for the assembly elections in the Valley. Now it is expected that soon there may be an election conch shell in Jammu and Kashmir.  

It may be mentioned that after the completion of the process of delimitation of assembly seats, a total of seven assembly seats will be increased in the state. According to the report, 6 assembly seats will be increased in the Jammu division and one in Kashmir. According to it, there will be a total of 90 assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir, of which 47 will be from the Kashmir division and 43 from the Jammu division. Along with this, 9 seats will be reserved for Scheduled Tribes (STs) and 07 for Scheduled Castes (SCs).

There is no elected government in Jammu and Kashmir since June 2018. When this report is submitted to the government, only then will the announcement of the election take place. PM Narendra Modi has also promised that after the elections, Jammu and Kashmir will get an opportunity to work like states. The panel was constituted by the government in March 2020. It was headed by former Supreme Court judge Ranjana Prakash Desai. Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra and election appropriate Chander Bhushan Kumar were part of the panel.
