New Delhi: The country's largest court will hear petitions seeking the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the violence that erupted after the Assembly elections in West Bengal on Tuesday. According to media reports, the Supreme Court will also look into allegations that the state government is in connivance and these incidents have been ignored.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of killing with vengeance. Meanwhile, mamata banerjee-led TMC has said that bjp is spreading fake news on social media. The BJP shared pictures of the bodies of party workers in Amdanga assembly constituency in North 24 Parganas district, Kotulpur in Bankura district and Mothabari area of Malda district on social media and accused the TMC of killing them. A police investigation into the incidents resulted in the findingthat the deaths were either caused by suicide or caused by accidental drowning.
TMC MLA and party spokesperson Tapas Roy had said, "Spreading fake news, tampering with photographs and editing videos is an old practice of the BJP. Even when a debt-ridden farmer scratches or a man gives his life after a failed affair, the BJP sees a chance to create a sensation".
