Ujjain: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said on Tuesday that demonetization and the Goods and Services Tax (GST) implemented by the Center had worked to break the back of common people, especially small businessmen. In fact, Rahul Gandhi was addressing a public meeting after visiting Lord Mahakal in Ujjain. Meanwhile, under his leadership, the 'Bharat Jodo' journey of the Congress continues to move forward in Madhya Pradesh. In fact, here Rahul Gandhi said, "Demonetisation (implemented in 2016) and GST have broken the backbone of people, especially small businesses."

With this, the Congress MP said that the laborers, farmers, and small traders traveling long distances during the anti-Covid-19 lockdown are the "real ascetics" and not him. He further said, ''I have not done any penance by marching in Bharat Jodo Yatra. The laborers who travel long distances during the Covid-19 lockdown, the farmers who produce food grains for the people, and the small traders are the real 'ascetic' of the country." With this, Rahul Gandhi said that 'unfortunately those people are not getting the benefit and only four-five industrialists are getting benefited'. Apart from this, the former Congress President said, ''Small shop owners and traders provide employment to a large number of people in the country, but their hard work is not recognized. Money is snatched from their pockets and given in the hands of four-five industrialists.''

Let us tell you that referring to the Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh, Rahul Gandhi said that such frauds have deprived the youth of employment despite working hard. With this, he said, "The media wanted to show the reality to the people but they were unable to do so because their hands are tied."
