Maharashtra: Dengue havoc continues in Aurangabad, seven people dead, many sick

Aurangabad: Dengue is slowly becoming an epidemic in the Aurangabad district of Maharashtra. Seven people have died due to dengue so far and an average of 15 people are falling victim to it daily. Giving information, official sources said that so far 51 people have become victims of dengue while 265 suspected cases have been reported.

The health unit of Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has arranged for special examination of patients in and around the city in view of the dengue havoc. AMC health workers have included one lakh homes across the city in their cleanliness drive. The deadly disease of dengue is caused by the bite of 'Aedes aegypti' mosquito, which lays eggs in clean water gathered in earthen pots or underground tanks. When 30 health teams conducted door-to-door surveys, the dengue disease was revealed. After this, a large number of health workers and NGO workers have been engaged in the work of collecting information about this.

The health department has urged citizens to take precautionary measures to avoid dengue, such as wearing full-sleeved clothes and using mosquito nets at night. The department has instructed the citizens to clean all the water storing utensils once a week and do not allow water to accumulate in small places near their homes.
