Guwahati: There are more than 150 such families on the Bangladesh border in Assam, who have to live on the other side of the fence and cannot even come to India without permission. The government is trying to rehabilitate these families living on the International Border near Karimganj. These people have been asked to report to the deputy commissioner's office in the district.
Let us inform that the India-Bangladesh border of 93 km is located from Karimganj district. A few years ago, a fencing was done in this area. There are 9 villages on the border that belong to India, but they have to take permission from the Border Security Force (BSF) to come to India. These nine villages are Gobindapur, Latukandi, Zara Pata, Lafasel, Lamjuar, Mahisashan, Kornag, Deotali and Jobinpur. The Karimganj district administration recently issued a letter to the families living in these villages asking them to report to the deputy commissioner's office by June 30 along with the documents.
It has also been said that if people report within the stipulated time, they can also claim compensation. Dev Gyanendra Tripathi, a senior official of the Assam government, said that a meeting was held in this matter. The matter will be resolved this year itself and the government has two plans.
