Himachal Pradesh: Manali, a picturesque town nestled in the heart of Himachal Pradesh, is currently reeling from the relentless onslaught of heavy rainfall and subsequent flash floods. The disastrous weather conditions have inflicted substantial damage on the region, causing widespread chaos and disrupting essential services.

Jagat Singh Negi, the esteemed Minister of Himachal Pradesh, expressed grave concern over the situation, emphasizing the detrimental impact of the flash floods on the local infrastructure. He lamented the destruction of houses, lands, and gardens, and revealed the extent of the damage inflicted upon the national highway. Furthermore, he highlighted the dire condition of the adjacent link road and the complete loss of connectivity, electricity, and water supply. In an admirable effort to assist those affected, arrangements have been made to provide food to the stranded tourists.

The heavy rainfall has also left numerous tourists stranded in Manali, unable to navigate the treacherous conditions and seek shelter elsewhere. To compound the predicament, the region's internet services and electricity supply have been severely disrupted due to the flooding.

Responding to the crisis, the Chief Minister's Office of Himachal Pradesh promptly initiated evacuation measures to safeguard the affected populace. So far, they have successfully evacuated approximately 2000 individuals from the Kasol area in the Kullu district. Despite encountering a major landslide at Dunkhara, authorities have tirelessly deployed specialized machinery to clear the Kasol-Bhuntar road. The district administration has mobilized a dedicated team to oversee the relief efforts. Additionally, over 2200 vehicles have traversed through Kullu from Manali, with provisions of food being distributed at Ramshilla Chowk. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu diligently monitors the evolving situation, ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents.

Amidst the relentless downpour, the state's acting Director General of Police, Satwant Atwal Trivedi, highlighted the ongoing relief and rescue operations. With a thousand vehicles already en route to Chandigarh after departing from Kullu-Manali, the evacuation process is well underway, prioritizing the safety of the affected individuals.

In light of the situation, the Nurpur police issued a crucial advisory, notifying the public that water release from the Pandoh Dam in Mandi is scheduled from 6 pm today until 3 pm tomorrow. This measure aims to manage the incessant rains that continue to batter the district.

The current rainfall and flash floods in Manali have brought about widespread devastation, necessitating urgent action from authorities to alleviate the suffering of the affected populace. Efforts are underway to restore essential services, provide relief aid, and ensure the safe evacuation of stranded individuals. The indomitable spirit of the people, combined with the diligent response of government agencies, will undoubtedly aid in the recovery and rehabilitation process.
