Mumbai: After becoming the Chief Minister of Maharashtra for 80 hours, at around 4 pm on Tuesday evening, Devendra Fadnavis has announced his resignation from his post. Announcing his resignation in the press conference, he said that the BJP's strike rate of victory in 2019 was much better than the 2014 elections. He also thanked people for the decisive mandate to the BJP-led NDA.

Even after the election results came out on October 24, Fadnavis had made a similar argument. He had then said that there was already a determination between the BJP-Shiv Sena as to how the power would be divided. After the election results, Fadnavis expressed surprise at the defeat of party candidate Udayaraje Bhosle and Pankaja Munde in the Parli assembly seat in the Satara Lok Sabha by-election. At the same time, Aamam was also thanked for the mandate. However, exactly one month and 2 days after the election results, Fadnavis has hardly thought about the manner in which he has to resign.

BJP's strike rate: -
After differences with Shiv Sena in 2014, BJP contested a total of 260 assembly seats alone and won 122 seats. At that time the BJP's strike rate of victory was less than 50 percent.

In 2019, BJP contested elections in alliance with Shiv Sena and fielded candidates for 164 seats. Of these, it won 105 seats. That is, the strike rate of victory was 70 percent.

The BJP got a total of 28 percent of the votes in the 2014 assembly elections. But even after contesting 164 seats in 2019, it got 26.5 percent votes.
