NEW DELHI:  Indigo airline in collaboration with aviation regulator DGCA unveiled 'Digital e-logbook' for the pilots. The e-logbook will provide direct flight data transfer service to pilots from IndiGo systems to eGCA logbooks from December 1.

Due to this automated process, the flight hours entered in the eGCA e-logbook will contain uniform data and formatting for all parties involved, improving operations' safety and efficiency. The removal of multilayer data validation will also enable data correctness and timely submission for the issue, renewal, and endorsement of licences.

This will also offer real-time availability of flying hours data for pilots in compliance with rule 67A of Aircraft rules, and enable data accuracy and timely submission of issuance, renewals, and endorsement of licenses by removal of multilayer data validation. This process will allow pilots to devote more time towards their skill enhancement and improve quality of life by freeing up time required for work manual log filling.

"We are happy to cooperate with DGCA to become the nation's first airline to provide Digital e-logbook, taking a step towards digitalization in Indian aviation," said Captain Ashim Mitra, Senior Vice President, Flight Operations at IndiGo. With this project, a new age of improving operational effectiveness and reducing complexity and workload for pilots will begin. This action is consistent with both our attitude of giving our pilots a hassle-free experience and the government's aim of "e-Governance and Digital India."

"I would like to extend a big thanks to the training team which under the guidance and leadership of Capt Rajiv Singh has been working relentlessly. Also, I want to express my gratitude to TCS, DGCA, the eGCA team, and all the leadership pilots and e-logbook verifiers for making this possible. The Indigo airline operates over 1,600 daily flights between 26 foreign and 75 domestic destinations using a fleet of approximately 280 aircraft.
