MS Dhoni Likely To Unfurl National Flag In Leh On Independence Day

Leh: Indian star batsman and former captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni is likely to unfurl the tricolor in Leh, the capital city of Ladakh, on August 15. Dhoni is currently stationed in the Kashmir Valley along with the Indian Army's Territorial Army troops. Dhoni has been awarded the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army. A two-month break from cricket, Dhoni has taken a break to work in the Territorial Army. From July 30 to August 15, Dhoni will be on duty at Leh with his battalion.

Talking about the case, an Army official said, Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the brand ambassador of the Indian Army. Dhoni is currently engaged in motivating members of his unit and he has been seen playing football and volleyball with soldiers. Dhoni is also practicing with the core. He will be stationed in the Valley till 15th August. In the meantime, the officer did not say where Dhoni will unfurl the tricolor on August 15. Dhoni is currently stationed at 106 Territorial Army Battalion Para Command unit.

There were reports of Dhoni being deployed at Avantipora in the valley. Dhoni is doing patrolling, guard and post duty. Not only that, but it was also reported that he would be patrolling during his duty with a weight of 19 kg. Dhoni's uniform, AK-47 and luggage are also loaded in this weight. Mahendra Singh Dhoni had already refused the board to accompany the team on the West Indies tour. Dhoni had sought permission from Army Chief Vipin Rawat to join the military training. Earlier in 1923, the first captain of the Indian team, Col. C.K. Nayudu, was given the post of Colonel by Holkar Raj of Indore.
