DUBAI: Prior to the Asia Cup, there was much discussion about Virat Kohli's performance; but, a one-month break has worked wonders for the former captain, who is now back in top form in the ongoing sub-continental competition.

The right-handed hitter has 154 runs scored in three games so far, with a top of 60 against Pakistan on Sunday during the Super 4 stage. The match was decided by five wickets, and Team India will now face Sri Lanka on Tuesday at the same location.

In a post-Asia Cup media conference on Sunday, Kohli said, "When I left Test captaincy, I only received a text from one person that I had played with previously, and that is MS Dhoni." "A lot of people have my phone number, and a lot of people keep making recommendations on TV, but I haven't heard from any of them. As a result, when a relationship with somebody is sincere enough, it manifests itself in this way because both parties feel secure.

Neither I nor him have any desires for anything from the other. And neither he nor I ever harboured any kind of insecurity against one another, Kohli said. He added that if someone had been genuinely interested in assisting him, they would have gotten in touch with him.

"If their criticism was genuine, they could have messaged me in person. The way I live my life with honesty, I would have talked one-on-one with a person that I wanted to help out." In a T20I match against Pakistan earlier on Sunday, Kohli tied the record for most fifties. Kohli scored his 32nd fifty in a T20I. (60 off 44). It was Kohli's fourth T20I half-century against Pakistan.
