New Delhi: The Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has implemented an e-boarding service for travellers at all three terminals of the airport, a statement released on Monday read.

"All boarding gates feature contactless e-boarding gates with boarding card scanners," according to a statement released by the GMR-led DIAL. "Passengers will be able to flash their physical or e-boarding cards to verify flight details and then proceed for security checks."  E-boarding gates have been installed at Terminals 3 and 2, while deployment at Terminal 1 is underway, the statement said.

The method not only reduces the amount of time passengers spend touching facility surfaces and interacting with one another during COVID-19, but it also reduces boarding time, Delhi International Airport official said. This technology has shortened processing time by 50%, resulting in shorter lineups, and has also increased security by verifying boarding card details with airline back offices, according to the company.

Meanwhile, the DIAL has deployed e-processing kiosks at Terminal 2's entry gates, with Terminal 3 and Terminal 1 to follow in the coming weeks, according to the company. The e-processing kiosks are located at the airport terminal's entry gates, and passengers must pass through the e-boarding gates before passing through the security check within the terminal. "The e-processing kiosks at the entry gates will drastically shorten the time it takes for CISF employees to validate travel documents, providing passengers with an end-to-end seamless and frictionless digital travel experience," according to the statement.
