New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal stated on Monday that the national capital is prepared to deal with the threat posed by the new Omicron Covid-19 variant, and that if necessary, his government will impose limits in the city.
"We're ready to take on the threat posed by Omicron. We shall implement any appropriate limits if necessary. There is currently no such requirement "he stated. Several review sessions for the availability of beds, oxygen cylinders, and medicines in hospitals have been held, according to the Chief Minister.
"We don't want Omicron to make landfall in Delhi. But if it comes, we will be ready. If it is necessary for the safety and health of the people of Delhi, we would impose limits on the advice of experts "Kejriwal stated. He advised Delhi people to avoid crowds and huge groups in markets. So far, two Omicron cases have been reported in Delhi.
However, after Andhra Pradesh, Chandigarh, and Kerala reported their first Omicron infections on Sunday, and Maharashtra and Karnataka also reported one each, the country's total number of Omicron infections has risen to 38.
