Directorate of revenue intelligence busted an illegal diesel smuggling racket .

Four suspects were arrested along with seizing 14 containers while the mastermind of the complete business was also arrested.

The illegal work was going on from the Chennai port, the information was extended from Andhra Pradesh board when they got to know that there was some illegal work going on the port . they immediately informed closed team to raid at the port.

The fuel was illegally sent to India  declaring it as mineral spirit.

The raids revealed that the container freight stations had 14 containers imported in the name of SAF petroleum and Aditya Marine landed at Sanco CFS, Chennai and gateway CFS.

The containers were found to be having 263.78 MT which is approximately 3 lakh littles of diesel.

These were then sent to importers, clearing agents, hawala operators and many more. They even had an office in Mariamalai Nagar.

 

Dummy companies were opened in Dubai to purchase diesel and import it to Chennai by creating false documents, fake receipts and invoices. The price difference was being adjusted by payments through hawala channels. In the past, these operators had smuggled around 5,366 MT (63 lakh litres) of diesel valued at around Rs 17.7 crore, the release added.
