Lucknow: The Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat, which fell vacant following the death of Samajwadi Party (SP) founder and former Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav, will go to polls on December 5. This is the first time in the last 33 years that the SP is expected to face a challenge in this seat. The BJP is in the fray with a claim of victory in every situation. The victory in the last by-elections to Azamgarh and Rampur Lok Sabha seats has boosted its morale, so the SP also does not want to leave any stone unturned to retain this fort.
Dimple Yadav is reaching Saifai from Lucknow today amid preparations for the elections. Sources said Dimple is likely to file her nomination tomorrow. Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav has convened a meeting of local party leaders and public representatives at Saifai residence today, in which the plan for Mainpuri is being finalized. Let me tell you that Mulayam Singh Yadav's nephew Ranveer Singh Yadav's death anniversary is also on Sunday. Shanti Yagya was held on Sunday morning at his Samadhi Sthal in Saifai. It was attended by Akhilesh Yadav along with the entire Yadav clan.
According to the report, the Saifai family will camp in Mainpuri during the by-election to ensure that Mulayam's legacy continues in the clan from now on. Former Mainpuri MP Dharmendra Yadav reached Mainpuri on Saturday. Former MP Tej Pratap Yadav was also present with him. Going to the party office, these leaders reviewed the preparations for the by-election and gave necessary guidelines. The party has fielded Dimple Yadav here. Dimple is the wife of SP national president Akhilesh Yadav, so Dimple's victory will be historic.
