Indore: Cases of smuggling gutkha-paan masala are continuously coming up in the midst of lockdown. Recently one such case has been caught from Indore. In the city, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) caught the smugglers with the goods while conducting a raid. A truck loaded with gutkha-pan masala and four vehicles were caught from the warehouse at Palda. Five more warehouses were also found during the investigation.

The investigation team is engaged in the evidence of sending fake Gutkha to outside states in Indore itself. Father-son who run a gutka shop in Siyaganj were running this smuggling racket. The cash stored in the sacks has also been recovered from their locations. The cash figure is being reported to be more than three crore. It is feared that this money was smuggled into gutkha during lockdown.

The Indore Zonal Unit of DRI carried out the action on Saturday. The action which started from morning was continued till evening. A man named Sanjay Mata was arrested from Palada area with gutkha-filled vehicles. On the trail of Sanjay, his father Gurnomal Mata and elder brother Sandeep Mata were caught from the building of Manikbag Road Khatiwala Tank. All three have a shop named Hariom Traders in Siyaganj. Under the guise of a small shop, father and son were running a big racket to make fake smuggling and smuggling. During the lockdown, fake gutkha was made by making pan masala and sold at 10 times the price. They were also sending goods to Maharashtra and other states, while gutkha is banned in Maharashtra.
