Jaipur: Voting for 199 assembly seats in Rajasthan faced a temporary setback today as reports of violence emerged from Fatehpur Shekhawati. Despite a generally peaceful electoral process, tensions escalated between two groups, resulting in an hour-long episode of heavy stone pelting.

Violent Clash:
The conflict between the two groups led to a chaotic situation, with the crowd going out of control. Heavy stone pelting became the focal point of the disturbance, causing a brief disruption in the voting process. Security forces swiftly intervened, bringing the situation under control. Those instigating violence were seen fleeing the scene once order was restored.

Resolution and Resumption:
After the intervention of security forces, the situation calmed down, and the voting process resumed. Although the tension lasted only for a short period, the incident showcased a moment of unrest, with people throwing stones from rooftops. Presently, police and paramilitary personnel remain deployed at the location to maintain order.

Security Measures:
A robust security apparatus has been put in place for the Rajasthan elections, with a total of 1,02,290 security personnel deployed. This includes 69,114 policemen, 32,876 Rajasthan Home Guard, Forest Guard, and RAC personnel, along with 700 companies of CAPF.

Electoral Overview:
Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta provided details on the extensive polling infrastructure, comprising 36,101 polling places in the state. Of these, 10,501 are located in urban areas, and 41,006 in rural areas. To ensure transparency, live webcasting has been implemented at 26,393 polling stations.
