ISLAMABAD: Several dead bodies were found rotting on the roof of a hospital in Multan, Pakistan on Friday (October 14), about which shocking information has been received, after which the authorities have started an investigation.

According to some reports, eagles and crows cleaned up at least 200 unclaimed dead bodies, which were dumped on the roof of the anatomy department of Nishtar Hospital. Embarrassing pictures and videos are becoming very viral on social media.

The Chief Minister of Pakistan's Punjab province, Pervez Elahi, formed a committee to look into the situation. The six-member committee, headed by expert health secretary Muzmil Bashir, has been given three days to complete the investigation.

According to Pakistani media outlet Geo News, a top hospital official blamed the police and rescue workers for the bodies lying on the roof of the building.

Dr Maryam Ashraf, head of the department of anatomy at Nishtar Medical University (NMU), claimed that it was the fault of the police and rescue workers for the accumulation of bodies in the morgue and on its terrace. According to Dr. Ashraf, the hospital was bound to accept the dead bodies for safekeeping and could not refuse to do so.

As per a quote from the officer, "Police and rescue workers bring the bodies and ask us to capture them, however, they do not immediately return them. We have requested that they take away the bodies in several letters. Such things would have happened." because there is a gap."

“When carcasses are left to decompose, they become infected with insects that spread from one body to another and feed on them. For this reason, the decomposing carcasses are kept in three rooms on the terrace. goes."

The hospital representative claims that the bodies the hospital receives from police and rescue workers are usually in various stages of decomposition and cannot be kept in the morgue.

"As a result the insects start eating them, and then they can move to a new body. Because of this, the decomposing carcasses are kept in three rooms on the terrace." It was reported that the officer said.
