Diwali is celebrated in houses across the country, with colorful lighting and crackers blasting. However, there is a special practice among the Scheduled Caste population in Karimnagar town, who celebrate the festival in Kashmirgada cemetery along with the lights festival.

After the Supreme Court relief on the sale and use of crackers, 5,000 people of the community visited the Kashmir Graveyard, paid tribute to the loved ones by offering various recipes that they enjoyed during their lifetime and then started the festivals.

During the day, families gave their loved ones a new coat of painting to their tombs and decorated them with flowers and lamps, and then in the evening, they brought food to the cemetery. Some of them came with vegetarian food, while others provided a variety of meat dishes. Some were also given packets of alcohol, infants, beedi, cigarettes and gutkha.

Earlier, people sat together for hours and exchanged opinions, this time it was not. People returned home shortly after they put food, alcohol and other things at the graves. Local MP and BJP state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Karimnagar Municipal Corporation Mayor Y Sunil Rao and others visited the cemetery and participated in the ceremony.
