The Union Ministry of Health has reduced the quarantine period for doctors, nursing officers and other health workers from 14 days to one week. In case of contact with a corona infected or respiratory disease patient, they have to go to quarantine.

According to the advisory issued by the ministry about the virus, the nodal officer or department head may instruct them to stay in quarantine for an additional seven days, looking at the profile of the doctor or health worker. This advisory is for medical workers working in all departments of Covid and non-Covid. Also, the government has said that while extending the quarantine period, their age and health will be taken into consideration. It will also depend on when and how he has come in contact with a patient. If the medical worker has come in contact with an infected in such a way that there is little possibility of the infection spreading, then he will be allowed to come to work.

According to the directive issued by the ministry, in this case, he has to pay attention to himself and in case of any kind of symptom, the related process will be adopted. The Ministry said that on the basis of the kind of information that has come out about the infection of Coronavirus, this new advisory has been issued to medical personnel. Union Health Ministry has instructed all states and union territories to pay salaries of doctors and health workers engaged in the treatment of corona infections on time.
