New Delhi: The Medical Council of India (MCI) has issued a circular prohibiting those who hold degrees in Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh (POJKL) to practice in India. A public notice issued by MCI stated that the entire union territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh is an integral part of India.

According to the report of Indian Express, the public notice states that Pakistan has illegally and forcefully captured some parts of it. Therefore, any medical institute in Pakistan-occupied Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh will have to take permission under the IMC Act, 1956. No medical college has been given such permission in POJKL.

According to a report of 'Indian Express', it has been written in the public notice that, in view of this, the degree obtained from a medical college in this illegally occupied area is not valid and such people will not be allowed to register in India. The MCI has said that any medical institute in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh region needs permission and recognition under the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.
