Washington, DC: Former US President Donald Trump raised a few eyebrows and made Secret Service agents a bit uneasy as he danced with a military sword during the Commander-in-Chief Ball.Â
The event marked the first inaugural celebration for the President, where he was handed the sword for the ceremonial cake-cutting.
In a surprising turn, Trump began grooving to the beat of Village People’s famous track, Y.M.C.A., which played in the background. First Lady Melania Trump joined in, swaying gracefully to the music.
Vice President JD Vance, accompanied by his wife Usha Vance, joined the presidential couple on stage during the event. Vance jokingly remarked that the Secret Service seemed "very nervous" as Trump danced with the sword in hand.

The evening began on a grand note, with the Trumps receiving a warm and enthusiastic reception at the ball. The couple opened the event by dancing to Elvis Presley’s classic song, American Trilogy. Trump looked dapper in a tuxedo, while Melania stole the show in a white, sleeveless gown featuring a black zig-zag design and intricate black detailing. She completed the look with a bold black choker adorned with a floral silver jewel.
Following the ball, Trump headed back to the White House and held a 50-minute press conference in the Oval Office. When asked about his return, he expressed, "It’s an amazing feeling. Truly one of the greatest experiences I’ve had."
After the Trumps left the Commander in Chief Ball, country music group Rascal Flatts entertained the crowd, while other performances by Billy Ray Cyrus and Jason Aldean kept attendees engaged as they waited for the president and first lady.
The celebration continued at the Liberty Ball, held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, where the president and first lady shared another dance to "The Battle Hymn of the Republic."
This event also saw the entire Trump family join the stage, including Tiffany Trump, who proudly displayed her baby bump. They gracefully danced to "Unchained Melody" before the band The Village People energized the audience with their iconic rendition of "YMCA," a well-loved MAGA anthem.
The Village People were also featured at the Trump victory rally on Sunday afternoon and performed at Turning Point USA's Inauguration-Eve ball, adding their signature flair to the festivities.
In his initial days back in office, Trump signed executive orders reversing several policies from previous administrations. These included repealing measures aimed at promoting LGBTQ equality and dismantling federal diversity programs. Trump also introduced new policies recognizing only two genders, criticizing diversity and inclusion initiatives as discriminatory, particularly against white men.
